Pamela S. Buchanan is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified forensic evaluator in Oregon who has maintained a private practice providing forensic evaluations since 2010. She received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Oregon in 2010, with an emphasis in forensic psychology. She completed her residency with Linda M. Grounds, Ph.D., Elena Balduzzi, Psy.D., and Darci Walker, Psy.D. in 2012.
Dr. Buchanan completed her predoctorate internship at Western State Hospital in Washington working with civilly committed sexually violent predators and conducting competency to stand trial and mental state evaluations with adults and adolescents. In addition, she completed predoctorate practicums with the Oregon State Hospital and the Oregon Department of Corrections providing psychological evaluations of patients and inmates. After graduating, she worked full time at the Oregon State Hospital in the Sexual Offending Treatment Program as well as at the Oregon Department of Corrections providing mental health assessments. In addition, Dr. Buchanan was a board member of the Oregon Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and is currently a board member of the Oregon Psychiatric Security Review Board. Prior to graduate school, Dr. Buchanan worked for the Department of Human Services: Child Welfare as a Child Protective Services caseworker for over five years.
Clinical and forensic interests include competency to stand trial, mental state, sex offender risk assessments, violence risk assessments, female offenders, severe mental illness, personality disorders and psychopathy, and parent evaluations for adults involved with the Department of Human Services/ Child Welfare.
Dr. Buchanan strongly believes in the importance of staying up to date on the current literature including attending in person interactive national trainings as well as regular consultation with colleagues regarding her specialty areas.
